The air is hot and damp and thick
And I can hardly draw a breath;
My head is heavy, I feel sick.
Oh God, please send your wind and rain!

The sun is beating down on me;
It burns my frail, defenseless skin,
Leaves me flayed and raw. I plea,
“Oh God, please send your wind and rain!”

My heart is dry, barren within,
This thirst is overwhelming me.
Oh flood, come wash away my sin
And God, please send your wind and rain!
