This, this is why we Christians need to change ourselves. We need to understand that we are the problem and that people are genuinely afraid of us.
We have become the oppressor.
Yes, “#NotAllChristians” but so many. And they’re the loudest right now. We Christians who don’t ascribe to the party line need to draw a line in the sand and stand up and speak out. We need to say that it’s enough. We need to say “No more.” No more hatred, no more racism, no more homophobia and transphobia, no more misogyny.
Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?”
Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.” Matthew 22:34–40 (emphasis mine)
