This is such an important point to remember. As a Christian myself, I really feel the kneejerk impulse to distance myself from hateful bigoted Christians and I want to say they're not "real" Christians. But that's gatekeeping, which I despise. Some Christians are hateful bigots. I have to own that. Believing in Jesus doesn't magically make you a kind person.
