“Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. He who does not love does not know God, for God is love.” 1 John 4:7–8
The above is my favourite verse right now. I think we should all meditate on this every single day. Personally, I often find it difficult to love those who call themselves Christians but don’t follow this verse, but then God gently reminds me that I am judged in the same manner that I judge them.
We are called to love. That is the beginning and the end of what being a Christian is all about. God is love and we are to strive to be like Him. We are not called to condemn those we don’t understand. We are not called to pray blessings over firearms. We are not called to post rants on Facebook. We are not called to be afraid of immigrants. We are not called to tell kids that their identity is a sin. We are called to love.
