I don’t know if I’m understanding you correctly, but it sounds like you’re saying that a writer never says that they are a writer? I completely disagree. By that logic, a musician could never say they are a musician, a painter could never say they are a painter, a dancer could never say they are a dancer, etc.

I am a writer. Confidence in my ability doesn’t negate the ability.
