I don’t blame you at all. I have felt that fear. I once said that having a “church family” means you have someone to help and support you no matter where you go, but that was back when I was blind to the reality I was too deep inside the church to see. When you are surrounded by that kind of intolerance, and it’s all you’ve ever known, you really can’t see how awful it is. But that’s no excuse. We are supposed to go out into the world, not sit in our pews and hide from the world.

It is past time for the Church to wake up. We are meant to be the Body of Christ here on earth, the face of Jesus. And we’re doing a pretty shitty job of it right now.
