Cookies and Cakes
For my mom: June 12, 1953 – November 27, 2012
Roses and music, cookies and cakes,
My mother loved baking cookies and cakes.
For Christmas and birthdays, for lunch any day,
Any excuse to bake cookies and cakes.
She enjoyed sweets and liked to share treats,
To parties she’d take cookies and cakes.
At this time of year, I remember the cheer,
The smells of the making of cookies and cakes.
I miss her smiles over sugar and spice
Each time I make cookies and cakes.
